Use of treated wastewater effluent
The use of treated wastewater produced by the project through the advanced RBC (Rotating Biological Contactor) method has been identified as the most suitable solution for water supply and for reducing the consumption of this vital resource.
Providing water for the cooling towers of the HVAC system in the Arman commercial–residential complex, which is designed based on direct-fired absorption chillers with a cooling capacity of 2,500 tons and water cooling towers, has been one of the key concerns of the project’s managers and engineers. Therefore, after extensive technical and economic studies, the use of treated wastewater produced on-site via the RBC method was selected as the most efficient solution for water supply and conservation.
In this system, which is being implemented for the first time in construction projects in Razavi Khorasan Province, the wastewater treatment process is carried out in two separate blocks located in the lowest floor of the complex, with a total production capacity of 200 cubic meters of effluent per day.
Considering the significant savings in municipal water consumption and a short return on investment period (14 months), the economic feasibility of this plan is evident. Low maintenance costs, the absence of a need for specialized operators, and the possibility of using the treated water for the complex’s green spaces during half of the year when the cooling system is not active are among other advantages of this system.
With this initiative, the Arman Project takes another step toward environmental protection, which is one of the core strategies of Iranian Atlas Holding.
